Father Pancras Raja
Dear Friends and benefactors,
In my last Newsletter No. 19, I spoke about the collegial consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The devotion reparation consists of:
1) conversion – (sanctification in the immaculate heart of Mary)
2) consecration – (union with the immaculate heart of Mary)
3) consolation – (love of the immaculate heart of Mary)
In this Newsletter I would like to begin the third aspect of the devotion of reparation.
3) CONSOLATION – (Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary)
Our Blessed Mother with Child Jesus appeared to Sr. Lucia at Pontevedra on December 10, 1925 to ask for THE COMMUNION OF REPARATION ON FIRST SATURDAYS, to console Her and to make reparation for the offences (five types of blasphemies) committed against Her Immaculate Heart.
Sin is an offence against God’s love and mercy for men. Now the Hearts of Jesus and Mary are so united in the work of salvation, that every sin against God affects also the maternal and merciful love of Mary for mankind. And on the other hand, the offences committed towards the person of The Blessed Virgin Mary constitute an offence of extreme severity to God.
And therefore, the Sacred Heart of Jesus wishes that the Immaculate Heart of Mary be honored with Him. “Tell everybody that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask graces from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” (Jacinta’s words to Lucia Feb. 1920)
When Sister Lucy questioned Our Lord (on May 18, 1931) as to why He would not convert Russia without the solemn public consecration of that nation specifically, Jesus answered: “Because I want My whole Church to acknowledge that consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it may extend its homage later on, and put the devotion to This Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart.” (The whole Truth About Fatima – By Frere Michel, Vol II Page 631)
Those who openly deny obstinately and with full knowledge the prerogatives of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commit the most odious blasphemies. The blasphemies of heretics, schismatic and impious men are like so many cruel thorns piercing the Immaculate Heart of Mary at every moment
According to Sr. Lucia’s letter to Fr. Gonzales undated but he has marked in it 12 June 1930: in this letter we find the reasons for 5 first Saturdays.
The First Saturday Devotion
“……. You at least console Me”, said Our Lady to Sr. Lucia, “and announce that I promise to assist at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who on FIVE CONSECUTIVE FIRST SATURDAYS: –
1) Make their Confession,
2) Receive Holy Communion,
3) Recite five decades of the Rosary and
4) Keep company with me for fifteen minutes while meditating the mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary,
Observing all these with the intention of MAKING REPARATION TO ME.”
Why Five First Saturdays?
The five consecutive First Saturdays are meant to be in reparation for the FIVE TYPES OF OFFENCES AND BLASPHEMIES committed against the IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.
On May 29, 1930 at Tuy Sr. Lucia implored Our Lord to inspire her with an answer to the question “why five first Saturdays?” And Our Lord said:
“My daughter, the reason is simple. There are five types of offences and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
1. Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception.
2. Blasphemies against Her Virginity.
3. Blasphemies against Her Divine Maternity, in refusing at the same time to recognize Her as the Mother of men.
4. The blasphemies of those who publicly seek to sow in the hearts of children indifference or scorn, or even hatred of this Immaculate Mother.
5. The offences of those who outrage Her directly in Her holy images and pious articles like Pictures, Statues, Medals, Rosaries, Scapulars and Banners etc.
“Here is the reason, my daughter, why the Immaculate Heart of Mary inspired Me to ask for this little act of reparation.”
It is true that the gravest sins against the Most Holy Virgin are first of all sins against faith. This important lesson must be kept in mind.
“We must all obey Our Blessed Lady’s requests at Fatima. The time of doubting is long past. It is now time for action.” (Pope Pius XII, 1950)
My only joy and reward are to make SAINTS of you. Let us offer ourselves as slaves to Jesus through his blessed mother.
